After the Storm

This moment isn’t about finding someone to run to.

It’s about running back to yourself,

to look yourself in the mirror

to see how distorted the reflection has gotten

after years of burying yourself in other people,

and doing things that took you further away from yourself.

Anything that is inauthentic to your true self will be destroyed,

and you, with your own hands, will be the murderer of the false life

that you have created.

You will learn over and over again

that until you face the monsters within yourself

the happiness that you’ve been seeking will always be out of reach.

Realize that you are the captor of your own happiness.

And if you’re at a pit stop in life, alone, feeling utterly destroyed,

see the destruction as a blessing.

Imagine the life that you can now create for yourself after the storm.
