Historical Materialism holds that human history started when humans begun shaping our environment. The most essential factor being the creation of language, which allowed humans to communicate with one another. We started making sense of the world using language, giving every object in sight a name. And by giving objects names, we enabled ourselves to better explain our existence. But by using names, we had begun the process of objectifying our world, giving objects immeasurable power. Our essence was lost. We became nothing more than something that could be explained through a lens that we ourselves created. We became lost in a reality that’s as real as a dream.
We are nothing but our essence.
Sieve us through the fingers of existence
and we are nothing more than atoms,
nothing more than
a brain in a vat.
Our reality is as real
as a bad dream.
